| DevilRising said: It's not about race. It's about getting shit right. If someone made a Black Panther, but cast a white guy, people would be up in arms. If someone decided to do a remake of "Desperado", but cast a white dude, people would shit them pants. It's about smart casting choices. Staying true to the character. I have no real serious issue with Sam Jackson as Nick Fury, however, Nick Fury wasn't black. I understand they've basically written Samuel L. Jackson into the comics now as some kind of contrived "black son we never knew about" nonsense, or whatever. But the fact is, Nick Fury was an older white guy. There are plenty of great black characters in comic books. Maybe they should use them, like they did with Falcon in the second Cap. film. If they felt like they "needed a black guy" in the Fantastic Four, instead of randomly and nonsensically making Johnny Storm, whose sister is still going to be white to my understanding, black just because, is silly. Instead, why not introduce Black Panther, a character who was originally introduced IN the FF comics? He's a great character, a bad ass, and he would work really well. It's that kind of thing. It's just sloppy. It isn't just race. Casting a natural blonde as a redhead, or a brunette as a redhead, or a redhead as a blonde, etc........it's just dumb casting. There are plenty of examples beyond even just physical aesthetics. It just boils down to Hollywood studios not really caring about accuracy to source material. |
James bond is only a codename not a person. He also has to be british agent (the only true requirement to be James bond). If you say he shouldn't be then you are making it because of race. Craig deserved to be bond just as much as anyone before him and represents a new type of bond for a new era and so would Idris. The only reason why there haven't been other types of James Bonds is because finally Hollywood has come to a point where other actors of other ethnicities have come up to through the ranks and are seen as equals by hollywood and viewers alike. James Bond could be of Pakistani descent as long as he is British and there is a proper back story for his existence.
