2. A new console that early won't necessarily alienate the fanbase. Gameboy Advance released in 2001, it's successor released 3.5 years later and went on to sell over 150 million. Xbox released in 2001 and it's successor released 4 years later, which went on to sell over 80 million. Those are two somewhat recent examples that prove releasing a successor early doesn't automatically alienate the fanbase. By the end of 2015, Nintendo 1st/2nd party titles and 3rd party exclusives will consist of New Super Mario Bros U, Nintendo Land, ZombiU, Lego City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Game & Wario, New Super Luigi U, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Wind Waker HD, Wii Party U, Wii Fit U, Wii Sports Club, Sonic Lost World, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Sonic Boom, Super Smash Bros U, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, NES Remix Collection, Kirby Rainbow Curse, Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario Maker, Splatoon, Star Fox, Devil's Third, Mario Party 10, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Legend of Zelda and a few rumored/hinted at titles that could release in 2015/2016 being Diddy Kong Racing, Pokken Fighters, 3D Metroid, Animal Crossing, Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem, Paper Mario plus a solid amount of exclusive digital games and perhaps a few other titles that we have no idea about yet. |

3. If current owners feel alienated with that many exclusive titles then nothing is likely to please them. We also have to take into account that Nintendo consoles dating back to N64 have had very bad software output in the 5th year. N64 in 2001 had 2-3 major releases, GC in 2006 only had the cross-gen Twilight Princess, Wii in 2011 only had Skyward Sword & Kirby Return to Dreamland with 2012 having nothing significant. Why not just skip that 5th year drought and release their new console at the end of the 4th year? |
1. 5 quality adult games to start with is what I said. The wii u is still competing with the xbox one but not the ps4. :D
2. Why did you compare consoles to handhelds? Some good to offset the bad? Anyway, those are two different markets and comparing their life cycles doesn't really matter in this discussion. Alot of those games won't attract adult gamers that aren't already fans of nintendo. Some might.
3. Honestly, I would like nintendo to try it to see if it works and if I'm right about it. You're basically cutting a normal console life cycle in half. If you want to be a cash cow, let them do that.
Why do you think the wii u is doing so horrible against it's supposed competition? Why isn't it selling consoles that well this early in it's life cycle? What could it do to change it's fortune?
