GoW and Uncharted seem the exception, although Uncharted really isn't that old. And GoW: Ascension wasn't that great nor did it sell that well. 

Gran Turismo is still doing pretty well.

Sony seem more keen to develop new IPs and not force their devs to continue making games from the same franchises again and again.

Yet they made a new LBP and are making a new Uncharted, GoW and Gran Turismo.

And you're right, Gran Turismo has proven to be a stayer. 

A new Uncharted that appears to be the last, given it's subtitle. Sony could make Naughty Dog continue the franchis until it is run into the ground, but it doesn't look like they are.

And when I say that Sony don't force their devs to make the same games, that doens't mean the studios don't want to continue the series themselves.  The main guys at Polyphony are complete car nuts and probably coulnd't make another genre of game if Sony asked them to.

However, LBP may or may not have legs, and Sony haven't handled that game's transistion to a new generation very well
