To be fair this is retail only.

With the recent push towards digital distribution, the software numbers from NPD, VGC, GFK or MVC are becoming less and less relevant.

Nice info though.

To be fair, why would the ratio between 1st party and 3rd party be any different for digital?

OP nice find! This tells us what we already know though; 3rd party is what drives X1 and PS4 sales and Nintendo fans only buy Nintendo games. But Im a little surprised to see that X1 is selling more 1st party games than PS4; is it due to instal base lr something?

Its due to how many of those first party games were given away / bundled.

That is not likely the reason.  Most of the bundles that sold in large quantities were 3rd party for both PS4/XB1.

More likely is the fact that XB1 has blown its wad and put out more first party big releases this fall through retail.  Where as the PS4 has a little less that way.  But, if you look at the digital side(not being tracked), the PS4 has a lot more games available.

So, almost by default the ratio would be this way through March next year.  After all the big 1st party titles from Sony release next year, the PS4 will likely take the lead by the end of 2015.

It is near the end of the end....
