It did hurt it but not as much as people think. Especially looking at all wiiu games launch week. If 3ds version didn't exist, how much do people think SSBU would of sold? My guess is maybe 300k FW instead of 225k.
Edt: Though thats still not as good as i hoped. Also like i pointed out before, hopefully legs will make FW not lookas bad. like SM3DW (sold bad FW bu ended up not bad lifetime)
