I never played an Animal Crossing game, I really don't understand what I have to do in it, aside from collecting stuff.

They are just life simulators really, you just do as much or as little as you like and enjoy the rewards accordingly. You can either focus on paying off your debt and building a bigger and bigger home to then fill with as much pieces of furniture as you want or you can sell everything you get and horde as many bells as you can in your basement filled with shelves.

There is also elements outside of collecting such as relationships with the other animals in your village so that you can have the ones you like stay and the ones you dont leave.

Seems that it has things I used to enjoy about The Sims. I just built houses, put nice fornituries there, and them moved on to build a new one, never cared about the Life Simulater, I loved the house building.

Ah, well there isn't too much actually house building, it just happens to grow larger and you choose if you want a basement first or upstairs normally but they all kinda grow to be the same shape at "end game" as far as I know. It really is a hard game to find a genre for really other than... life?
