Other M flopped hardcore vs Nintendo expectations.
I haven't played the game but the turn that this game took was quite dramatic. 6 month pre release it was universally acclaimed like the next big hit without any hesitations, all the previews were very positive and the expectations was quite high.
At the release however, the reviews became poor, the players rejected the game and it ended as a massive disappointment for Nintendo sales wise.
What was the reboot of Metroid with its new style ended in a fiasco and we still haven't heard about the licence since.
