They were, for the time, man work and investment they did they were expecting it to compete with FF.

The game was still able to pay itself for what I remember, but that's far from what they expected.

I can understand they giving up in the sequel, but they throw it on limbo I don't.

The PSN launch was a success and they have people asking for it every year, yet they make it looks like it's not even worth remembering.

Yeah... I don't think competing with Final Fantasy was the wisest thing to do in the late 90s/early 2000s.
