Wii-U is doing terribly, i would be surprised if Nintendo didn't release a new system in 2016 at the latest. It could just be a Nintendo tablet that is similair to Wii-U. So that really isn't that crazy if Zelda releases at the end 2015 or possibly later.

Don't forget the new Zelda is the first HD Zelda game set in a big world. It will likely be Nintendo's most expensive Wii-U project and i don't think Wii-U's install base will allow for sufficient sales.

Nintendo isn't rushing out a new system because of poor Wii U sales, they don't want to end up like Sega - they know that cutting a generation off short will make them lose a lot of consumer confidence, which is something they've never lacked previously because of their good choices. The Gamecube wasn't a lot better and it still had a full lifespan, the same will happen to the Wii U.

It's successor is releasing 2016 at EARLIEST (even then it sounds extremely unlikely) and Zelda Wii U is certainly coming out next year. Edit: also, no Nintendo console has ever not had an exclusive Zelda game, I'm pretty sure Nintendo isn't planning on that ever happening.

No offense but the Sega analogy is getting tired and it's not even accurate.

Nintendo's best selling game system ever followed a system that only had 3 primary years in its life span too.
