Does Mario Maker mean 2D Mario will likely be on hiatus for a while?

I know right? I wouldn't mind if the New Super Mario Bros. had these sprite with HD shine and shader.

Looks like there's level designs for normal overworld, underground, water level, and castle. Now they need ice levels, desert, big world, sky level, and lava level.
