Usually, in fighting games, the AI wont take full advantage of system mechanics. Sometimes, new things are found that wasn't intended to be in the game, too.. But, don't expect to be the best player after one week.
The AI probably is reading your buttons too, which doesn't help. Just bait & punish if that's the case.
