Yeah but the topic was mainly home consoles not handhelds... and the original GB was the same price as when it launched ($89.99) for a looong time before it received its first official price drop, which was sometime in the mid 90s, I believe when the redesigned "Play It Loud" series was released.
Besides, on a website called VGChartz... charts and graphs are always better! :)
