You misunderstand Nintendo. They're not about competing with other companies, especially not outside of the gaming department. Nintendo do their own thing, they like making games and as long as they're profitable it's what they'll be all about. They'll always have their games as the selling point - even if the public isn't all that huge, there'll always be Nintendo fans who'll buy their consoles to play Pokémon, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Super Smash Bros. and so much more. Tablets and smartphones might have quality games and controls, but they'll still not have Nintendo's biggest selling point, which is their beloved franchises. |
I understand Nintendo, I have watched the industry for 20+ years. If that is what they are happy with more power to them, but when does it get to the point were they are just to small? Is 8 Million consoles, and 20 million handhelds going to be enough as there userbase continues to diminish?
There are a lot of people out there that are fans of a Nintendo franchise. I myself love Pokemon, and Mario Kart, but very rarley by another title from them. There are a lot of people in a similar situation. They like Mario or Zelda, but that is it. Nintendo is asking people to make a $150 handheld investment, and a $250 console investment in devices to play potentally 1 or 2 $40 -60 games on. These same people already have a $400 console and a $400 smarphone that they do everything else with.
If Nintendo really loves games, and wants to make the world happy by bring their visions to the people, then they need to go were the people are. No one will ever forget that they revived this medium, but but if they are unwilling to adopt, that and the rest of the company is going to sit comfortably in a history book somewhere in a smartphone web browser near you.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
