Well for one thing announcing the hack directly like that suggests that it was its full extent. The style is irrelevant. I would be far more prudent to not tell someone you are hacking them, take the data, leave and use, cause then you aren't as likely to get caught and you have more opportunity to actually use the information.
The way its presented here is more of a prank, a vunerability exploit. To differentiate between fake and real doesn't make sense here because regardless of its style the fact that it happened mean it really did exploit a vunerability in there security. To be told of a hack rather than find the aftermath actually lessens its vunerability.
