A year ago, it was said to be impossible for the ps4 to have a ps2 like success. Now more and more people seems to accept it is possible.
I would say it is possible, but x1 selling 100 millions at this point still seems highly improbable.
But this november surprise sure leaves hope for an awesome gen, with more combined units sold than ever before (I remember a thread about combined sales for each gen with everyone saying this gen would be the first to ever sell less than the previous one, would be fun to read it again)
