I bet most of the people clamoring for his inclusion in the game aren't even Metroid fans. It would be demeaning to that character to see him on the same stage as the rest. That's fine for Bowser, considering he comes from a comedic universe. But to reduce Ridley to that level would be to undermine his strength and massiveness in the Metroid Universe. I think it's all about tone. Tonally, Ridley just doesn't fit with the rest. It's cool, though, that he's still including him as an enemy/ally.
