Well why would they not expect teh PS4 to perform amazingly in 2015? And what makes you think they won't stay competitive in the US? The XB1 has not taken the lead YET it is still over a million behind. Why would they just jump at every move MS makes? Why panic or even be fazed after only 1 week? Wouldn't it be smarter to wait it out and see if the price cut is long term or if the sales the XB1 received was just a spike or a new baseline? It makes ABSOLUTELY no sense from a business perspective to do anything at this point. They are trying to profit as much as they can right now and are still leading WW and only got doubled in the US for 1 week(as far as we know).So they made the correct choice.
As for your second statement they more than likley did think of that BUT because that has not happened YET they do not need to react to it just yet.
