Are you this humorless outside of VGC? I really hope not.
But to answer your question, I read the game boxes all the time, even for games I own and have beaten to death. It's a fun thing to do, and reminds me of the good old days when the back of the box was all you had to determine if you wanted what was inside the box. I also think, "They really should have mentioned ___, that would have sold me on the game," or "____ was a lie!". It's just an old habit.
