This pretty much nails it. Even in the ergonomics department I think its outdone by the pro controller and the gamepad.

I always feel like I am using a different gamepad than everyone else, from my experience I've always felt it's pretty poor on the ergonomics. It has never felt right to me, the buttons are too far apart and the relation between the right analog stick and the face buttons is just weird. I can't speak for the pro controller though.

I get what you're saying. Maybe its because my hands are big, but the gamepad feels like the perfect balance of form and functionality. Its the first time in a long time I let my hands spread out, and the grip comes naturally. On the Gamecube, the button placement was awkward, and pressing the Z and R trigger were pretty unnatural to me.
