So many GameCube kids here, I think it skews all these polls because they look back at that console with rose tinted glasses.
The GCN controller was comfortable and that's about it. The d-pad was *terrible*, the Z-button with no opposite button was lame too. And the button layout was never used again by anyone (even Nintendo) and for good reason ... it was pointless and made playing things like fighing games fairly awkward. The C-stick being smaller was also pointless.
The Wii Classic Controller Pro is the best one, you can play virtually every Nintendo game on it without too much of a problem.
The Pro Wii U controller is good too, but the d-pad being so close to the buttons is kind of weird.
I'll go as far as to say I think the GameCube controller is maybe the worst one they've ever made.
It's the only one with a basically unusable d-pad.
