Some 7th gen games have also been delayed or cancelled in spite of the larger userbase. Given how poor many 3rd party games sell on Wii U, even ports aren't financially worthwhile. If games like CoD, AC, and Batman sold a measly 600K on Wii U then support would have probably continued. Instead they struggled to sell 300K so the support went away. Zombi U and Bayonetta 2 have not "sold very well." They certainly sold better than most M rated games on Wii U, but that's it. Unfortunately, those games can't rely on other platforms for profit, that makes Wii U exclusives a risk. Bayonetta 2 would be a multi million seller as a multiplat. But that won't happen on Wii U alone. If Sunset Overdrive sells 700K like Zombi U, it well be deemed a failure. Bayonetta 2 had an opening of 200K in the west, that would also be poor for Sunset Overdrive. |
Technically, Watch Dogs WiiU development hasn't been delayed. They stopped working on it for months to boost the manpower for other versions, then resumed working on the WiiU version.
