I had just gotten my wisdom teeth removed and was at Blockbuster looking for a game or two to rent. I am not a huge FPS guy and hadn't heard much about the game prior. Saw something on the back of the case about RPG and thought "FPS RPG? I'm high on vicodin, I will try that" and it quickly became one of my top 5 games of all time.
