I think this is more of a New York problem. I don't see this happening in most cities in the West. I think they kinda cherry picked New York for that reason.
And guys who cat call at passing women are *lame*. Approach with something better than that or don't even bother. Sorry fellas, step your game up.
That said a lot of the guys who get violently angry at "feminists" have their own insecurities going on (ie: they couldn't get laid or got shut down by some girl they were crushing on for years/months or just can't make heads or tails as to how to attract a woman and now are bitter about it and lash out at "feminists" every chance they get).
Not to say that this "experiment" wasn't obviously tailored to make guys look bad (you pick a girl that has a Kim Kardashian type look, have her wear tight jeans that accenuate her rear end, and have her walk through predominately black/urban neighborhoods ... why not an average/below average looking skinny white girl with no booty? Why not pick an area like suburban Indiana?).
On the flipside though how many guys would be comfortable with gay men leering at them and making comments like "mmmm" and "hi gorgeous" as you walked by? Or how about a gay guy following you for a couple of blocks trying to pick you up? You may say "well they're just trying to be nice", but I bet a lot of guys crying bloody murder here would change their tune real quick once they had a group of guys leering at them like a piece of meat as they walked past, lol.
I can see both sides of the coin here. Certain men need to be more respectful and confident. Certain women need to stop cherry-picking every instance to make men look bad.
