My 360 didn't die from a RRoD, but it did die from another serious manufacturing defect, the E74 error, a year and 2 weeks after I got it. Microsoft was still in official denial about the E74 and wanted to charge me $120 to fix it after I spent an hour talking to their phone-answering computer and another 30 minutes talking to an Indian CSR with a bare minimum proficiency in English. I bought a used 360 instead. About a year later MS finally fessed up to the E74 and started fixing them, but that was too late for me.

That did play a small bit into my decision to skip the One. However, I certainly wouldn't say it's the big reason.
