I think you may be surprised by how many people were actually curious about the character when he had his own SINGULAR reveal (which no other character comes to mind wasn't revealed along with someone else), Nintendo is pushing this. Yes, they will be. Mario Kart has a ~50% attachrate. Xenoblade has a snowballs chance in hell to outsell (or come remotely close to) Mario Kart, and the same can be said for Smash. Mario Kart 8 has a fair shot at outselling all Xeno-games released combined (you can probably add Xenoblade Chronicles X to that as well). The entire franchise combined has so far done a measly 5.04 million, including remasters/rereleases for PS3 and DS.
