I get your overall argument, and there is a kernel of something to it, I just think you're being way too optimistic about the results. Leaving aside how unforced the many errors were (never good, in my book), the fact that the game was close was primarily a product of a terrible opponent. I'd say there's maybe four teams you could play so listlessly and still have a chance to win: fortunately (almost) for the Cowboys, they were playing just such a team. I wouldn't take this game as a positive for Dallas at all: it's a neutral game at best, in my opinion.
