what it actually shows is how absolutely terrible home console numbers will CONTINUE to be in Japan.

You are right, home consoles are going to perform considerably worse than the previous generation in Japan... however, my comment was focused on the PS4/Wii U situation because I think the latter is doing extra abysmally considering the vastly-superior software library it has established in Japan so far.
