Fighting games are about tactics, combos, and being able to play your enemy like a puppet. Randomness and chaos makes it all pointless. What's the point if items are going to pop up and make it unfair? Skill is no longer a factor when items are on. It becomes nothing more than a race to the items, which is lame.

 

Besides a smashball maybe since whenever you hit it, it goes in the opposite direction, but otherwise I agree (On the cheapness). Smashballs are still cheap though >_>. I don't think Nintendo should remove the items though, they make the game better if you want to play with friends for fun and not competition.
