But I wouldn't say it's too late. LoZ had its fair share of drastic changes in its world and gameplay. Though probably not enough to warrant a cut like a cyberpunk world.

Eh, I'm fine with the consistency of the universe. I like the occasional weird out-of-place technology (high school teachers taught me to call these things anachronisms but no one uses that word so I rarely do) from robots and beamos down to the phonograph.

After the big hooplah people made about a train, I'm not sure the Zelda fanbase could handle cyberpunk. :/

A train isn't nearly as cool as cyberpunk, steampunk, futurezelda, etc.  I never played Spirit Tracks...but it definitely didn't pique my interest in concept.
