RolStoppable said: gamescom 2012 was the last time that Sony announced big Vita titles in the form of Killzone: Mercenaries and Tearaway. Both were slated for a 2013 release, but the obvious expectation was of course that more big Vita titles were going to be announced at the various trade shows in 2013 (in other words, any gaming system is expected to see meaningful support beyond its second year on the market). That didn't happen, so that was the first nail in the coffin for "Sony supports the Vita". The other telling sign is that Sony is clearly working on their exit strategy for the dedicated gaming handheld market (they will stream games to smartphones instead), hence why there is no point for them to make sure that Vita owners are happy. Whether they are or not, they aren't going to buy Sony's next handheld anyway, because there won't be one. You can also look at your question from another perspective: What proof is there that Sony has not abandoned the Vita? That would be games that can push hardware sales, even if it's just a little bit (like Killzone and Tearaway did last year). What has there been and will be in 2014? Nothing. |
Software support is only one part of the whole. Doesn't the Vita's remodelling and continual patches count as support? Not to mention Vita TV? Regardless of how it is predicted to perform, clearly its more than nothing.
