Show me where I claimed you, specifically, had. I'm saying it's a copout because you are using a manufactured persona to vito the dress sense and suggestive actions of a game character, that doesn't work. Also a camera panning around the characters crotch, ass, and breasts has nothing to do with enpowerment or a show of power from the character and everything to do with using the character to sell the game., as you put it "sexuality is a selling point", in this case the needless sexualized events are used (mainly in advertising, most notably) to sell the game, it is reduced in that sense, from a powerful woman figure to simply using said womans appeance and actions as a selling point. Don't misunderstand however, I don't particularly care what they do with the character, or how women are perceived, treated or portrayed in games, they are after all, only games, but there is a clear cut difference between empowerment and abuse. Which would you call this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkdNzuf7Ftc#t=1m13s I'd love to hear how blatent forced S&M is considered empowering. |
Go back and actually play Bayonetta.
It's a game about a woman who humiliates, outdoes, and destroys her male adversaries. A woman who wear her sexuality with pride and draws strength from it both figurativey and literally. There is nothing sexist about sexuality.
