Because you need to keep your skylander figure on the NFC stand all the time... would you want to be balancing the controller with 2 skylanders + a power up item all the time? also both 1+2 players skylanders are dealt with on the 1 NFC stand, wouldn't be such a great move having player 2 needing to reach over to player 1's controller all the time if they wanted to swap out their figure.
