Will there be a bump because of Smash Bros. on Wii U? Probably, but will most of the bump be because of the holiday season ramping up, or because of the game alone? Understanding how well the game will push consoles will be difficult during that period of time, though I can already imagine the Smash fanatics: "OMG, see, Smash Bros. caused a huuuge bump!!!". I'm inclined to believe the holidays themselves, along with all the Wii U content that's available now, will have a bigger push than Smash Bros alone. Wii U didn't exactly light up the charts on fire when Mario Kart released (got a decent bump), which is a bigger and more popular series (appeals to a bigger audience than Smash Bros ever will), why will Smash Bros. be a bigger system mover than that?

I think people need to understand the situation, Smash Wii U will sell mainly to those who already have the console, it will be a multimillion seller, it will sell less than Mario Kart, still be a good success and ultimately not "save" the console. But it will be vital, because more big games the console gets will play a bigger factor in aiding some sort of recovery, even if it's just a few pulses. Those who expect something huge from Smash Bros alone will be disappointed.

The 3DS version is parasitic too, eating away from Smash Bros. Wii U's potential. Some will be satisfied with the 3DS version, and not care about buying a whole new console to play whats essentially about the same stuff. This whole "Smash fans will buy the 'real' version, it's meant to be played on the TV screen and will be the reason for big sales" nonsense....is nonsense, seems to be a common statement from Smash Bros fanatics. Apparently because of this "fact", the Wii U game won't be affected heavily by the 3DS one. Face the facts, those " double dippers" will be mainly the hardcore Smash Bros. fans, hence, not the majority, nowhere near those numbers Brawl put out of over 12 million, that's not the real size of the "hardcore" fanbase, it's much smaller. A lot of people will be content with the 3DS version and won't buy a $300 console to play this supposed "superior and better" version.
