Nintendo drastically changed their strategy for the eighth generation. All the things that sank the GameCube are back, but now they are present on the home console and handheld, so both suffer mightily.

A change in strategy for future generations opens the door for Nintendo to be successful again.

Actually they tried to pull a Wii with the Wii U and failed miserably. It's only recently that they seem to have switched to the Gamecube strategy.

Yeah Nintendo's 1st year for the Wii U ...

Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, LEGO City, Sing Party, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, Game & Wario, Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics.

Hell, honestly the 3D Land/World Mario games are designed to make 3D Mario easier for casuals to play.

The Wii U just shows how risky a strategy is when you bank everything on a gimmick controller -- sometimes it works, sometimes it fails miserably.

And that tablet controller is very much for casuals, they probably figured since those people liked tablets, they'd go for a tablet game controller.
