You say Nintendo will make money from 3rd parties, but Sony nor Microsoft are making money with them. Yoshida himself said they make very little money from software sales.

http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/07/04/shuhei-yoshida-only-four-out-of-ten-playstation-games-make-money-but-sony-will-always-support-talent/

So, what's the real solution?

The point I'm trying to make here is that the comparison isn't fair. A better comparison would be to compare the software sales of both the PS4 and the Wii U's exclusives.

Man, read the link you posted... it was regarding to 1st parties (and possibly on indies game as well), for like 90+% of the 3rd parties Sony invest 0 on the game and just collect the royalties, so it is pure profit... the only way to lose money on a 3rd party is if you paid for exclusive content or game and didn't sold enough (like Ryse or D4)... Sony make a lot of money on royalties on 3rd party MP.

Doesn't negate the fact that Sony makes very little money on software sales.

But that isn't the point I was trying to make.

It actually nullify all you said on the subject...

Sony make money on SW, but just 4/10 cover the cost of all the 10 released games (6 are unsucessfull SW), and from the 4 just 2 really make them profit. But that is all regarding 1st party.

On 3rd parties they make pure profit, good money, not sure from where you took that... Let's estimate that from the almost 30M SW sold by PS4 7M are 1st party and 23M are 3rd parties... Let's even consider that they make basically 0 profit on 1st parties because of the article (it is untrue, but just to help you out)... the royalties are around 20 dollars for new releases. so 23M SW equals 460M of profits on 3rd parties, if that isn't money I don't know what is.

20 dollars/copy is a pretty steep royalty fee dude. It's more like 10 dollars.
