Well, there goes the theory of "Bayo 2 only had two days of sales, a whole week might show some really good legs for this title!" And then we'll probably have the exact same discussion in US and Europe when it launches in those territories.

I have seen that argument many times on VGChartz but I can't remember even one single time where that has been the case. Sales are down by quite a lot for the following whole week, no matter if the game only was available for one or two days the week before.

Exactly; it is perfectly common that games release on thursday or friday, usually yielding 3-4 days of sales and the initial shipments cover pre-orders, which is basically pent-up and completely predictable demand so 2,3, 4 or even 7 days won't make a huge difference in most cases. Frontloaded launches, pre-ordering and day one purchases are a lot more common now than even ten years ago.

Just hang on though; like I said, this discussion will gain wind in the sails once more when Bayonetta 2 releases in other territories.
