I love these popcorn threads.
Overall userbase isn't a great tool to use for an excuse from any side of things. This is especially true when you are talking about a game format (FPS) that does much better in one region (US) than it does in all other regions. Look at the userbase and sales in that one region (US) for actual comparisons of how things are going for that particular title.
I know I am just parroting back what some others have said, but feel it is worth repeating.
