I have one of my "PS4"s hooked up to like ten different things. Pi would know hahaha!
How good is your TV? 1080p? 720p?
If it's a great quality old TV then yeah downconverting could be unwise, but if the TV's image quality is low than a cheap converter like Pi linked to will work great.
