SSB is a party-brawler. Its designed to be enjoyed through simplicity opposed to traditional brawlers (the complexity is created by you not the system). Even the creator said it was created for extremely low barrier of entry so anyone can jump in and enjoy it unlike most fighters which has caused it to become relatively niche these days.

Hence my point.
He may like Smash and not most fighters. Like one might like Starcraft and not necessarily be satiated with any other strategy game in the genre.

PC games of that breed tend to be for a different crowd. Isn't Starcraft one of the most competitive?
