Its not about Sony going for the win. If Microsoft and Sony launch at the same time Sony generally has the ball in their court due to world perception of their gaming brand. Microsoft didnt come into this industry to be second best to Sony.

I expect Microsoft will be happy with it as long as they make money, don't know if they are yet, but they could be so...

Regardless of what MS think, I'm happy because both the PS4 and Xbox One are above the Wii U

"Second, MS was so focused on beating Sony this cycle that the 360 was rushed to market when all indications were that it had serious flaws. The design qual testing was insufficient and incomplete when the product was released to production. The manufacturing test equipment had major gaps in test coverage and wasn't reliable or repeatable. Manufacturing processes at eall levels of suppliers were immature and not in control. Initial end to end yields were in the mid 30%. Low yields always indicate serious design and manufacturing defects. Management chose to continue to ship anyways, and keep the lines running while trying to solve problems and bring the yields up."

Microsoft risked the quality of the overall hardware of the 360 by trying to rush it to market so they wouldn't have to face Sony head to head. Again....what this industry gives to them is a pittance. They just want to dominate Sony. Nintendo is nothing to them really. They'll make purchases to fill in the technological gaps between themselves Sony and Nintendo but their eyes are forever fixed on Sony.
