The manga series is much superior simply because the anime had to skip a TON of content to fit all that into 12 episodes, but I enjoyed it all the same, andI really can't wait to see the second season!

They are also saying that there won't be a second season, and it seems they are pretty convinced of it. Why is that ?

Not sure, I haven't heard of any confirmation one way or the other. It was a very popular anime though, so it would be genuinely surprising to not see it get a second season.

That being said, I would encourage you to read the manga regardless. It is amazing.
