I agree that New 3DS may not be the best name but people are making way to much of this so-called buyer 'confusion'. Gaming isn't rocket science and game consoles aren't even the most complex piece of kit hat most people are likely to buy.
I know we've all heard the anecdotal stories, but the average person is actually aware of how to research a potential purchase or at least ask questions of the store clerk before making a purchase. e.g. Q.Why should I buy this one which is more expensive over that cheaper one? A. The new one has a better screen and will have some exclusive games but the cheaper one will still be able to play the vast majority of games. Easy! Sure the potential buyer can be led astray by poor advice but that could happen regardless of what Nintendo called the thing.
Bottom line, if people aren't willing to partake in a least a cursory investigation before dropping $200 on entertainment, I don't feel sorry for them.
