New 3DS release and its effect on sales

With the 'New' 3DS releasing in October in Japan and 2015 in the west how do you think it will effect 3DS sales?

Since it's announcement sales have already taken a hit but with the New model only releasing in Japan will it be enough to take up the slack from the west?
