1. Godzilla 2014
Because I am a hardcore giant monster movie fan and I love that Godzilla was finally shown the respect he deserves, and properly presented as a powerful force of nature reinvented for the modern era.
2. Gamera 3: Awakening of Irys
Cos I'm still a giant monster movie fan, and the way this one pushes the boundaries of the genre with its powerfully emotional story and cheese-free presentation make it incredibly epic.
3. Death Note
Call me a blasphemer, but I actually prefer the live action movie over the anime; its more concise and less distractingly over the top.
4. Death Note: The Last Name
It didn't have quite as many memorable scenes as the first movie, but it brings the story to a powerful climax far better than the ending of the manga/anime.
5. Pacific Rim
