Exclusives wise: Pokepark 2, Pandora's Tower, The Last Story, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Zelda Skyward Sword & Dragon Quest X Not a huge number of exclusives but still a few, and then there is the multiplats. Sure you'll probably say they people bought them on PS3/X360 instead, but that's the point isn't it? People didn't stick around with the Wii they moved on to other consoles or even to mobile phone gaming. |
This is why I said significant. The fact that you had to list Poképark 2, Pandora's Tower, The Last Story and a JP only MMO as significant exclusive releases highlights what I previously said. Combined they managed to shift a total of ~9.8 Million units lifetime, with M&S 2012/ Zelda doing over 70% of that total.
Compare it to 2010, where Wii Party alone managed over 8 Million units. Nevermind whatever Super Mario Galaxy 2 did or what Donkey Kong Country Returns did, among the smaller Million sellers released for the machine.
The fact is that developers (including Nintendo) simply stopped developing significant Wii games sometime during 2010. The '11 and '12 release schedules being as barebones as they were for extended periods of time is proof of that. While the Wii was still topping the charts in 2009/10, developers completely abandoned the machine for whatever reason. It wasnt the Wii audience shifting away, it was a total lack of quality, significant releases for the Wii audience to play.
