Yes of course, but if console sales had continued to decline then that would of hurt them a lot, not only in console sales but in software sales, if the cost to develop a console and its software is more then they can make from selling them even if they make a profit per unit sold it doesnt help them much.
Of course this is only theoretical since they are now succesful but thats what the comments of them going the route of sega was refering to, they might of sold a lot more software if it was on the ps2 for instance, but no one will knows what would of could of happened anyways :)
