Samus is not even on the same stratosphere when it comes to popularity as Link, Pikachu, and Mario though.

For the hardcore Nintendo fans? I think she is. Im still amazed to this day when SSBM was introduced and when Samus came up the cheers were so damn loud!!! (this is even before Metroid Prime was a thing).

She's fairly popular, especially for a character who's games dont sell high at all.
