Smash is a fighting game, just because its not played as a traditional one doesn't mean it isnt one. Its at Evo meaning its a fighting game, so pls lets not start with SSB=/=Fighter.
Party Brawler is a sub category of a Fighter as Mario kart is a kart racer which is a sub category of a racer.
That said, Pokken fighters can be in the same boat, SSB is one of the most competitive games out there in general. Easy to pick up, very very hard to master. No button mashing, etc.
Edit: And Pokken Fighters could be completely unique, why do you want it to be a reskin of tekken/etc? Thats another factor of why SSB got so popular, its because it doesn't play like other fighters at all.
