Gaming nowadays isn't what it used to be 10 years ago, granted. But while the "obsessive fans" suck the life out of every discussion on the comments section, my problem is more with the alleged journalism.
While reading gaming news on the internet doesn't affect me negatively, reading a non-stop barrage of rumors does. If I get all excited for a rumor that turns out to be fake, I get all disappointed and lose hope. If they are hyping a rumor that will turn out to be true, and reveal it... yay... I guess. Every secret, every rumor has to be discovered by someone and thrown out for the internet to read it. The element of surprise is gone. Thanks to this, the videogame industry can't surprise us anymore. We have to see the gameplay, we need to know all details. For what? To get bored quickly and trade it in. This is what drives me off.
