Compared to what? Japanese games are only "crashing" when compared to CoD sales. Wii U could be selling more than SNES or NES ever did because oh no its not surpassing Call of Halo 15 3/4.
Japanese games are doing as well or better than they ever have. Ni no Kuni 1 million +. Bravely Default? Smashed it.
The difference is now everybody compares everything to Call of Horseshit and deems it a failure if it's not 10 million sold in 1 minute. Japanese still develop for their core niche audience and haven't sold out to the casual mainstream.
I remind again the most universally revered games of all time like Chrono Trigger , Final Fantasy VI, Link to the Past (?) Never broke 1 million on their original release yet were critical successes that made their developers what they are today.
Gaming was and is still niche. This Call of Duty and Angry Birds nonsense is a FLUKE, a mainstream fad, and the sooner people understand that and stop chasing $$$ the better we will all be.

There are a far bigger and better variety of western titles other than Call Of Duty. I never even mentioned that game lol.
If selling 1 million+ is a big deal, then all western games pretty much are doing well, or rather very well.
Of all those Japanes games you listed, none intrigue me, like they don't excite many others like me. Western games are the main reason gaming is fairly mainstream, you should be glad that western developers and consumers exist. Otherwise gaming would have completely been an iOS thing by now.

No. Because western game budgets are MUCH higher. The problem.
